eBay Title Checker
Paste an eBay listing title and see how many of the 80 characters you use, which special characters and filler words waste them, and where a detail buyers search for is missing.
A free account audit looks at titles, item specifics, photos and pricing across your listings.
How the checks work
Each check is labelled with its source. eBay checks come from eBay's Seller Center listing advice: titles have 80 characters, so use as many as you can; include the brand, model or type, colour, style and model number; and avoid special characters and irrelevant words. Slayva checks are readability suggestions: words in capitals, and words repeated in the same title.
The checker does not know what buyers search for. It has no search data, so it does not score a title or predict a ranking. Use it to make sure no characters are wasted, then choose the words with the methods in our free eBay keyword research guide and our guide to eBay listing titles.
Before and after
The checker opens with a weak title: NIKE Air Max 90 Mens Running Shoes White!! Size 9 L@@K. It uses 54 of 80 characters, and the checks flag the capitals, the special characters (! and @) and the filler word "L@@K", none of which tells a buyer anything about the shoes.
A rewrite that keeps every real detail and adds the ones buyers search for: Nike Air Max 90 Men's Running Shoes White Black Leather Size 9 CN8490-100. It uses 73 characters, names the brand, model, type, colour, material and size, and ends with the model number, as eBay's own examples do.

How long can an eBay listing title be?
80 characters. eBay's Seller Center advice is to use as many of them as you can, because buyers find listings through the words in the title.
What should an eBay title include?
eBay suggests the brand, the model or type, colour, style and the model number. Add the size, capacity or condition where buyers search for them. Leave out words that describe nothing about the item.
Should I use special characters or capitals in an eBay title?
eBay advises avoiding special characters. They use up characters and add nothing to search. Capitals do not help search either, and a title in normal case is easier to read.
Does this tool show search volume or keyword rankings?
No. It checks a title against eBay's published guidance and flags wasted characters. It has no search data, so it does not estimate volume or rank. Our eBay keyword research guide covers free ways to find the words buyers use.
Why does the checker flag repeated words?
eBay matches the words in your title to a buyer's search. Saying a word twice uses characters that could hold another detail, such as a size or model number. The repeated-word and capitals checks are Slayva's suggestions, not eBay rules, and each check is labelled with its source.
