VeRO response
Rights-owner contact with evidence of authenticity or authorisation, or a compliant rewrite.
eBay policy violation recovery: we read the notice, deal with the rights owner properly, audit every listing that could draw the same report, and put a check in place so it does not happen again.
One listing gone, forty more with the same brand name and images still live, waiting for the next sweep.
The one party who could retract the report now will not.
"Compatible with" and "like" phrasing that reads as infringement or keyword spamming.
Categories that need documentation or pre-approval, listed as if they did not.
The same item listed several times to take more search space, which the listing practices policy forbids.
A policy warning is the step before a restriction. Treating it as noise is how accounts get to MC011.
A policy notice describes one listing. The risk is every listing like it. We start with the notice, then search the whole catalogue for the same brand, image, keyword or item type, fix or end what would draw the same report, and only then respond to eBay or the rights owner. That order is what stops a single removal becoming a pattern on the account.
For intellectual property reports, eBay policy violation recovery runs through the Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) programme: the rights owner, not eBay, is the one who can retract a report.
Rights-owner contact with evidence of authenticity or authorisation, or a compliant rewrite.
Every listing that could draw the same report, found before the rights owner finds it.
Keyword spamming, duplicates, misleading titles and category misplacement.
What needs approval or documentation, and what cannot be listed at all.
Titles, images and descriptions that keep the sale without the violation.
A short check for new stock, so the fix survives the next supplier delivery.
The notices we respond to, and the checks that stop the next one.
Which policy, which listing, which rights owner.
Every other listing carrying the same risk.
End, rewrite or document before anything is sent.
To eBay or the rights owner, with evidence, once.
A pre-listing check for new stock.

eBay treats repeated policy and intellectual property violations as a pattern. The consequences move from listing removal to selling limits to restriction and suspension, and an account with a history of violations gets less benefit of the doubt when it appeals anything else. Cleaning the catalogue after the first notice is the cheapest point to do it.
VeRO is eBay's Verified Rights Owner programme. A brand or rights owner reports listings they believe infringe their intellectual property and eBay removes them. eBay does not decide whether the claim is right; the dispute is between you and the rights owner, whose contact details are in the removal notice.
Usually, yes, but carefully. If the item is genuine and the listing used their name or images in a way they object to, the fix is to change the listing, not to argue. If you believe the report is wrong, a short factual message with evidence of authenticity or authorisation is what gets a retraction. A threatening or emotional message ends the conversation.
Yes. Repeated intellectual property and policy violations escalate from listing removals to selling restrictions and, in the end, suspension. The priority after the first removal is to find every other listing that would draw the same report before the rights owner does.
Prohibited and restricted items, listing practices (keyword spamming, duplicate listings, misleading titles), images and descriptions, search manipulation, and category misplacement. The route is the same: read the notice, fix the catalogue, and only then respond.
Where the rights owner retracts the report, or eBay agrees a policy removal was made in error, the listing can come back. Where the listing did break the rule, it is rewritten and relisted in a compliant form instead. We tell you which applies before any work starts.
