eBay sales dropped suddenly? Find which number moved
If your eBay sales dropped suddenly, one of three numbers fell first: impressions, click-through rate or sales conversion rate. Seller Hub’s traffic report shows all three, and each falls for different reasons with a different fix.

eBay sales dropped? The three numbers behind sales
Every eBay sale passes three gates. The listing has to be shown (impressions), it has to be clicked (click-through rate) and the buyer has to buy (sales conversion rate). Seller Hub's traffic report shows all three. When sales fall, one of them fell first, and the fix depends on which.
| What fell | Usual causes | Where the fix is |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | Seasonality, lower seller level, listings removed or hidden, missing item specifics, competition | Seller level, policy, titles, item specifics, category |
| Click-through rate | Main photo, price or shipping cost against the listings shown alongside | Main image, price, shipping, free returns |
| Conversion | Description, returns policy, feedback, handling time, stock or variation problems | Listing page, policies, operations |
The traffic report sits in Seller Hub; eBay's Seller Center explains how each of the three numbers is measured.

The causes we find most often
- Seller level dropped
A Below Standard evaluation on the 20th reduces search placement across the whole store at once.
- Listings removed or hidden
Policy or VeRO removals, or listings hidden for missing information, quietly take best-sellers out of search.
- A competitor undercut the price
Impressions hold, click-through falls: the listing is still shown but loses the click.
- Top listings ended
Good-till-cancelled listings ended by a stock-out or an edit, and relisted without their sales history.
- Season or category demand
Impressions fall across the category, not only your listings. Compare with last year.
- Recent negative feedback
Conversion falls on higher-priced items as buyers read recent comments.
Check these, in this order
- Seller level on the last evaluation date: did it change?
- Removed and hidden listings in Seller Hub: are any best-sellers missing?
- Traffic report: impressions, click-through and conversion for the last 30 days against the 30 before, and against the same period last year
- Your top 20 listings by past revenue: still live, same price, same history?
- The search results for your main keywords: who is now above you, and at what price?
- Recent feedback and returns: any new pattern?

How Slayva diagnoses a sales drop
We start with the account, not the listings: seller level, removed listings and policy notices, because those cause store-wide drops. Then the traffic report, listing by listing, to find which gate each top listing is losing buyers at. The fix list is ranked by the revenue it would recover, and we change listings in batches so the result can be read.
- Account-level causes ruled in or out first
- Impressions, CTR and conversion per top listing
- Competitor and price check on the main searches
- Fixes ranked by revenue recovered
- Changes in batches, measured against a comparable period
Impressions × CTR × Conversion = Sales
Find the term that fell. Fix that one. Leave the others alone until it recovers.

Common questions
Is my account being suppressed?
Sometimes, and it shows in the numbers. A Below Standard rating reduces search placement, and listings removed or hidden for policy reasons disappear from search. Check the seller level and removed listings before assuming the algorithm changed.
Where do I see the numbers?
Seller Hub > Performance > Traffic. It shows listing impressions, click-through rate, page views and sales conversion rate, by period and by listing. Compare the same length of period before and after the drop.
Could it just be seasonal?
Yes. Compare with the same weeks last year before changing anything. Seasonal drops in demand show as falling impressions across the whole category, not only on your listings.
Will more Promoted Listings spend fix it?
Only if the problem is visibility and the margin supports the ad rate. If click-through or conversion fell, advertising buys more of the traffic that is not converting.
How quickly should I act?
Diagnose within the week, change one thing at a time, and measure over a comparable period. Changing titles, prices and ads at once makes it impossible to know what worked.
